13-Year-Old Arrested Following Friday-Morning Bomb Threat Made to Buddy Taylor Middle School

The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) has made an arrest following an investigation into a bomb threat made towards Buddy Taylor Middle School (BTMS) on Friday, May 17. At approximately 10:47 a.m., a front desk attendant at BTMS received a phone call from a male stating that, “the school will be blown up at 11.” A school lockdown was initiated at 10:48 a.m. and 19 FCSO deputies responded. Three exceptional students who attend Flagler Schools received Sheriff Rick Staly’s “Great Kid Award.” Commander Jennifer Nawrocki of the Youth Services Section presented the first award at Wadsworth Elementary School on Thursday, May 2. Chief of Investigative Services Division, David Williams presented awards at Buddy Taylor Middle School and Matanzas High School on Monday, May 8. Bunnell Elementary School is hosting their “Centennial Celebration” this Friday in honor of 100 years of education in Bunnell. The public is invited to tour the campus, including the “Little Red Schoolhouse” and garden. A stroll down memory lane with BES memorabilia and guest speakers. Plenty of historic items to be on display, plus food and fun for everyone. Buddy Taylor Middle School's SeaPerch program participants had their first win in Jacksonville, taking 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. We were able to talk with Tracy Jones who told us about the program, and it's significance for students. What is underwater robotics, how many students participate and what are the goals of this program? Seaperch is an aquatic remote operated vehicle (ROV). It is similar to a remote controlled submarine. We had 9 students participate in the program at Buddy Taylor Middle School this year. Reports were presented on the district's strategic plan goals, including academics, student performance by subgroups, resilience and well-being initiatives, talent management, operational efficiency, and communications efforts. Flagler Palm Coast High School Parking Lot Construction Damages Water Pipe; No Drinkable On-site Water

As of now, the water line at FPC High School is currently damaged due to construction; it is anticipated that the damages will be repaired and water will be restored by March 29th. During the construction of the FPC parking lot, a water line was broken temporarily resulting in non-drinkable water on campus. We are prepared to have bottled water available for students and staff. If possible, please send your student with an extra bottle of water. We anticipate this will be in effect through Friday, March 29. Until then, water fountains on campus will be off limits.
