School Board Workshop 11/28/2023 Hears Presentations on Cell Tower Placement and More

Tuesday, November 28th, 2023, Flagler School Board members held their afternoon workshop meeting. This workshop included presentations by AdventHealth, the 2024-2025 school calendar, Quantum Health, and FPL Easement/Cell Tower Placement. AdventHealth and Flagler Schools have been partnered together since 2021, and will continue this partnership into 2024, with the option to renew this partnership further. They provide mental health resources, classroom to careers and offer athlete care as well. AdventHealth discussed the highlights of their partnership so far, including the increase in behavioral health identifications, training staff, 80% of staff has been trained in Youth Mental Health First Aid. 14-Year-Old Indian Trails Middle School Student Arrested for Threatening Students with a Knife

A 14-year-old Indian Trails Middle School (ITMS) student was arrested early Friday morning after pulling a knife on students and staff. At approximately 7:45 am on October 27, 2023, Flagler County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) Community Policing Division deputies responded to assist the School Resource Deputy at ITMS. Prior to the start of school, two juvenile females engaged in a physical altercation which was broken up by school staff. Following the altercation, 14-year-old Justin Gillespie removed a knife from his backpack and raised it above his head in a threatening manner towards other students present. October 17th, at 6pm, Flagler School Board held their monthly business meeting, and during this meeting LaShakia Moore was officially sworn in as Superintendent of Flagler Schools.  While many had already been referring to Ms. Moore as Superintendent, it wasn't until Tuesday night that the contract was voted in by the board and Ms. Moore was officially sworn in. The meeting started with the final millage and budget for 2024 presentation, public comment, a vote on whether to hire LaShakia Moore as the full time Superintendent for Flagler Schools and more. The board heard the final draft of the proposed 2024 millage rate and fiscal budget. The board then read the resolution that determined the millage rate for the Flagler School District 2023-2024 fiscal year. The board then voted the budget unanimously. The Flagler Education Foundation has been around for 33 years, and there are Education Foundations in every county in Florida.  The Flagler Education Foundation is a non-profit program of Flagler Schools, and they offer so many services, grants and projects to the school community. This Foundation offers career coaching, teacher grants, The Connect Bus, The STUFF Bus, The Josh Crews Writing Project, Classroom to Career Flagships and the Peter and Sue Freytag Take Stock in Children. Beachside Community Church Honors Mothers & Daughters at Annual Luncheon

Beachside Community Church held their 2nd annual Mother/Daughter Luncheon in the cafeteria at Flagler Palm Coast High School, on Saturday, May 6, 2023.  The objective of the luncheon was to honor the bond of mother and daughter relationships, while sharing the importance of developing young women to be leaders in their homes and community. There were over 100 women in attendance.
