I Am Me awarded a Prom Makeover Scholarship to Sarah Wallace, a junior at Matanzas High School on Monday Morning, March 25th, 2024. Saran was surprised in the front office of the school with her large check, balloons, flowers and a tiara.
Sarah Wallace has dreamed of attending prom since freshman year of high school. She is the daughter of a single father, and under normal circumstances wouldn’t have the funds to afford prom. I Am Me took applications for the prom makeover scholarship, which Sarah Wallace applied for. I Am Me volunteers ultimately chose Sarah as the recipient of the scholarship which will provide funds for Sarah to purchase her dress, shoes, makeup, hair and even nails.
Sarah was beyond overwhelmed and happy to be chosen. Yonette Turner, one of the volunteers for I Am Me had this to say, “Her teacher reached out to us, telling us how excited she was, how all she’s ever talked about was going to prom. She had already picked out her dress, her shoes, her nails, she had an entire prom makeover vision list. Once we looked over her application we knew she had to be our recipient because it would make her entire world to be able to go to prom.”
