Flagler County has changed its Leadership Academy for 2024 now offering two programs – LEAD (Leadership Excellence and Development) and LIFT (Leadership Initiative for Tomorrow) – to provide staff development to more of its employees. “I think it is extremely important for our community that we continue to develop the next generation of leaders,” said County Administrator Heidi Petito. “We regularly work with external partners, because we know things are better when we work together in the best interest of our residents.” The Flagler County Leadership Academy began in 2019 using the materials and methodology in line with graduate-level coursework. The new model for both LIFT and LEAD is conference-style teaching with guest speakers each week based on the topic. Associated reading materials are available for those who wish to further explore the subject.

“Engaging and knowledgeable speakers are the lifeblood of effective leadership training. Their ability to impart wisdom, share real-world experiences, and inspire action can truly transform individuals and organizations,” Petito said. “They are a powerhouse of experience, insight, and inspiration.”

Class participants were notified by email of their acceptance into the programs.

“This course will provide you with valuable leadership discussions from guest speakers, inspiring talks, interactive workshops, and networking opportunities,” they were told in the notification email. “Whether you’re an experienced leader or just starting your journey, this event is designed to help you grow and excel.” The programs are being taught concurrently and will wrap up about mid-June with a retreat and graduation.
