Thursday May 11th, 2023, Sheriff Staly and the FCSO hosted the Florida Sheriffs Association’s Sheriff’s Summit at the Operations Center in Bunnell. This allows Florida Sheriff’s to discuss things like crime trends, strategies and other concerns regarding our State’s safety.
Traditionally, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office and Sheriff Billy Woods host the Summit in Ocala. This was the first time Florida Sheriff’s met in Flagler County. Sheriffs, Chief Deputies, and Undersheriffs enjoyed a lunch that was cooked and served by the Green Roof Inn Catering Team, (inmates) as part of the jail’s Culinary Program that partners with Flagler Technical College and Beachfront Grille.
This was an all day event that had several round table discussions on a multitude of issues including, Florida Legislative updates, emerging trends and more. 32 counties attended along with the FSA staff.
“Florida has never been safer and that’s because of our hardworking Sheriffs and the teams they led along with the support of the Florida Legislature, Governor, and Attorney General,” Sheriff Rick Staly said. “It is my honor to serve as the Vice-Chair of the Florida Sheriffs Association’s Board of Directors. Our team was very honored to host the Sheriffs and show them our new state-of-the-art Operations Center. As Sheriffs, we are constantly sharing strategies and working together to make Florida safer. These meetings allow us to do just that.”
The Florida Sheriffs Association was founded in 1893 and is one of the largest and most successful associations in the nation. Membership is comprised of 67 sheriffs, 3,000 business leaders and 100,000 private citizens.
