On Wednesday January 25th, 2023 at roughly 11am, an individual, who has yet to be identified, called the school office to report a bomb threat.  The School was placed in a “Code Blue” and FCSO communications were notified.

Building 5 students were moved and sent to the auditorium and gym, while all other students and staff were told to remain in place. FCSO’s Explosive Ordinance Detection K-9 unit responded to the scene and began to set up. FCSO Real Time Crime Center monitored the school surveilance system remotely, as well as the live feeds from body cams. At 12:45pm the building had been searched and was given the all clear. No explosive devices were found.

FCSO has since determined that the call originated in California and has been identified as the same number making these “swatting” calls all over the country.

“We do not takes threat of this nature lightly,” said Sheriff Rick Staly. “We thank the students and staff
of MHS who adhered to Flagler School’s Code Blue plan and allowed us space to conduct a thorough
search. Our investigation is continuing and if we can identify the caller they will face serious
consequences and a trip to the Green Roof Inn. The safety of our students is paramount.”

FCSO is continuing to work towards the identity of the caller, and the FCSO asks anyone with information to either call the FCSO at (386)313-4911, email FCSO at Tips@FlaglerSheriff.com or call CrimeStoppers at 1-888-277-TIPS (8477)
