This morning at 11am, NHC (National Hurricane Center) updated the current path and wind speed probabilities for Tropical Storm Ian. While Flagler County is too far away to make a for sure decision on what kind of weather severity we will see, residents should be watching. The NHC posts updates every six hours. Tropical Depression #9 is set to become a tropical storm sometime today or late tonight. It is currently entering the Gulf where the NHC is expecting it to make a turn to Florida. It is still days out, and tracks can make drastic changes. Remember not to panic, and monitor the track and cone as the days go on. News Release from  Flagler County states that there will be a detour starting on Monday September 26th in the section of Water Oak between Walnut Ave and Mahogany. Palm Coast City Council Approves Millage Rate and Final Budget

Tonight’s meeting went without much of a hitch, and the council was able to review again a brief overview of the 2022-2023 budget and millage rate. Ms. Alves and her associate presented a brief overview of the final budget with one minor adjustment due to rounding issues. The final proposed budget is to be $328,187,636 dollars, a three dollar increase from the last budget meeting at $328,187,633 dollars. The council voted on the State Road 100 Community Redevelopment Agency Budget, and it passed 4-1 with Councilman Danko being the only no vote. The council then proposed the final millage rate…

Heavy Rains Bring New Road Flooding

  Heavy rains over the weekend have brought the usual flooding throughout many neighborhoods. This intersection however is a new area. The corner of Whitemill Dr and Whiteview Parkway, where the new gated development is being built,  have been flooded since at least early this morning. The waters have started to recede but we are not done with the rain yet.   The forecast has rain off and on for the near future. Thursday September 8th the council held a special meeting to adopt a tentative millage rate and budget.  This does not mean that the budget and millage rate is set in stone yet, but it appears to be the path that the council is walking down.   Council heard a presentation on the proposed budget along with any increases that will take place from the 2022-year to the 2023-year.  Here is a brief overview of some of the increases in departments:  Water/Wastewater budget increased 13%, Building Find increased 9.4%, Solid Waste fund increased 55%, IT increased 30%. On September 6th, 2022, at 6pm, the City of Palm Coast kicked off their Special Budget Meeting at City Hall.  This meeting started off with a proclamation on behalf of the School Board, by renewing the half cent tax that helps provide funding for our schools. Single-Car Crash on US1 Results in the Death of 40-Year-Old Ormond Beach Man

A single-car crash has resulted in the death of a 40-year-old Ormond Beach man. The crash occurred at the roundabout at U.S. 1 and Old Dixie Highway around 1:45 a.m. on September 14. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the man was driving northbound on US1 when he "failed to negotiate the roundabout" for and lost control of the car. The car traveled through the roundabout, overturning multiple times before striking a tree. More information will be provided as it becomes available.
