Boaters using Bing’s Landing in Flagler County will not face a summertime closure this year. Flagler County has announced the postponement of a planned boat basin dredging project at the popular park, moving the work from its original June 1 start date to sometime after Labor Day.

The decision came after county officials consulted with the Florida Inland Navigation District, known as FIND, which is providing funding support for the project. Feedback from local commercial and recreational boating industries also played a role in the timing change.

“After further consultation with FIND, which is responsible for this project’s funding support, as well as receiving feedback from our local commercial and recreational boating industries, we have decided to postpone the dredging until after Labor Day,” said Interim County Administrator Adam Mengel.

Had the project begun as originally planned, the boat launch at Bing’s Landing would have been closed for approximately three weeks — the expected duration of the dredging work.

The project is designed to increase the depth of the deepest areas of the boat basin. A new start date after Labor Day has not yet been announced.
