City Repertory Theatre of Palm Coast is adding a new production to its 15th Anniversary season with “The Colored Museum,” a satirical play by six-time Tony Award-winning African-American playwright George C. Wolfe. The show runs February 20 through March 1, 2026.
The play, which premiered in 1986, is presented as a series of interconnected exhibits or skits. The production invites audiences into a satirical museum where the exhibits are not relics of the past but living commentaries on Black identity, assimilation, and stereotypes. Wolfe himself described the work as “both an exorcism and a party.”
Director Sal Jones leads six of CRT’s young actors through the production. The cast includes Laniece Fagundes, Brent Jordan, Melinda Morais, Kelvin Niebla, Vanessa Pearson, and Phillipa Rose.
Jones comes to CRT from Jacksonville with more than 30 years of theater experience. He has directed and produced more than 50 productions including Godspell, Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf, Little Shop of Horrors, A Christmas Story, Ain’t Misbehavin’, 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, and Who Will Sing For Lena?, a National Award Winner.
Playwright Wolfe has won Drama Desk, Outer Critics’ Circle, DramaLogue, and Obie awards for his directing and writing in addition to his six Tony Awards. His other honors include the Actors’ Equity Association’s Paul Robeson Award, the Society of Stage Directors and Choreographers’ Calloway Award, the Bessie Award, the George Oppenheimer/Newsday Award, and the Lambda Liberty Award. He was named a “living landmark” by the New York Landmarks Conservancy and honored as a “Library Lion” by the New York Public Library.
