July 23-25th, the Florida Sheriffs Association’s semi-annual meeting was held in Tampa. During this meeting Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly was elected to be the Chairman of the Board  of Directors. This election marks the first time in Flagler County’s Sheriff’s Office’s 106 year history that a Flagler Sheriff has been elected to lead the FSA’s Board.  Sheriff Staly and other officers and Directors of the FSA were sworn into their offices by the Immediate Past President and Hernando County Sheriff Nienhuis.

“It is an honor to have been elected by my fellow Florida Sheriffs to serve them as the Chair of the Board of Directors,” said Sheriff Staly. “I’m excited to continue working with our outstanding Florida Sheriffs in my new role as we work together to make Florida the safest state in the nation for our citizens.”

Sheriff Staly has served on the Board for the FSA the last 3 years and has also served as the Vice-Chair of the FSA’s Board since 2022.
