Wednesday May 31st, 2023 a resident of Palm Coast called the FCSO to report their car stolen, when they saw the thief steal their car from their home security system while they were at work.  The resident of the home stated that a black male was shown on camera footage, going in to the open garage door, taking keys from the key rack and then driving the car away.

Deputies were able to identify a potential suspect, which was a neighbor who had a history of trespassing. FCSO Communications, FCSO Real Time Crime Center and the SJSO Real Time Crime Center, were able to collectively track the vehicle to the area in and around St. John’s County.

Within an hour of the vehicle being reported stolen, the SJSO was able to locate the vehicle in St. John’s County, and was able to make an arrest, 19 year old Jaden Woodard of Palm Coast. The SJSO is holding Woodard on multiple charges which include Trespassing, Resisting an Officer without Violence, and Possession of Cocaine. The additional charges of Burglary and Grand Theft are still pending.

“Due to the quick actions by deputies to identify a possible suspect and collaboration with SJSO and both Real Time Crime Centers, the victim was able to quickly get their car back,” said Sheriff Rick Staly. “Remember to make sure you lock up your home, close your garage door, and keep your keys in a safe place inside your home to prevent thieves like Jaden from stealing your car!”
