Corporal Troy Cavas, K-9 Holmes, and Mental Health Specialists Teresa Shaw and Megan Ionadi taught K-9 teams at the Bringing the Lost Home Summit in Tallahassee. They taught on training exercises that would help enhance deployment skills, and they put together a presentation for all the K-9 handlers, showing how the K-9 and mental health can collaborate for better and increased successes.
“I am proud of our K-9 Unit and our fairly new Behavioral Response Unit who work together to find innovative ways to bring lost adults, juveniles and endangered individuals safely back home,” said Sheriff Rick Staly. “Thank you to Scent Evidence K9 for hosting the training that was made available to K-9 teams across Florida and for asking our Behavioral Response team to explain how we have enhanced search and rescue missions by thinking outside-the-box.”
