In 1989, Louis Bernard Gaskin, was convicted of double murder in Flagler County. He is set to be executed in April, and Governor Ron DeSantis signed his death warrant on Monday.

Gaskin’s execution is set for April 12th at 6pm. Barring any delays, this will be the second execution in Florida this year, and the fourth execution under Governor DeSantis.

Gaskin is convicted for shooting and killing 56 year old Robert Strumfels and 55 year old Georgette Strumfels, in their Bunnell home, in December of 1989. He was also convicted of Armed Robbery, Burglary, and Attempted Murder of another couple on the same night.

Gaskin is now 56 years old, and has filed several appeals during his 33 years behind bars, but the Florida Supreme Court, as well as the U.S. Supreme Court have upheld his conviction and sentence.

“It is about time this man will finally face the consequences of his actions and sentence,” said Sheriff Rick Staly. “He waited on death row for way too long for the sentence to be carried out. I pray the victim’s family will finally get justice and closure for their murdered loved ones and their family.”
