Deputy Dorsey noted a reckless vehicle on I-95 on Thursday March 9th, driving with no lights and at a very high rate of speed.  Deputy Dorsey turned on his lights to initiate a stop, when the vehicle started to flee.

Deputy Dorsey turned off his lights and notified other deputies about the fleeing BMW, which was heading East on SR100. The BMW passed FCSO Deputy Quintieri and FHP Trooper Capela who both attempted another stop. The vehicle started to flee again in the east direction at speeds roughly around 130 mph.

The vehicle continued east into Flagler Beach, and LEO’s lost visual on it. FBPD, FHP and FCSO searched the area and were able to locate the vehicle parked at the address of 1414 S. Flagler Ave. Law enforcement conducted a high risk traffic stop and was able to take all three occupants into custody without further issue. The three occupants were found to be from Miami Fl area.

Jose Eugenio Garcia Torres, the driver, was arrested and charged with three counts of Fleeing and Eluding and Possession of Hashish. A passenger, Geovar Yahir Murgas was arrested and charged with Possession of Hashish. The other passenger, Monica Wu Yu, was arrested and charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. They are all still being held at the county jail.

“This driver endangered many lives while attempting to evade law enforcement,” said Sheriff Rick Staly. “Especially during Bike Week, we do not tolerate reckless driving. Another out-of-county criminal thought they could come to Flagler County, then run and hide from FCSO and our partners. Instead, they woke up this morning in the Green Roof Inn.”
