City Repertory Theatre (CRT) of Palm Coast will open its summer comedy, “Puffs, or Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School of Magic and Magic,” on July 17. The show will run through July 26, with performances Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m.

The play, written by Matthew Cox, offers a different perspective on a well-known story about a boy wizard who spends seven years at a magic school. Instead of following the famous hero, the play focuses on three friends trying to survive the same dangerous school. Alongside them are the Puffs, a group of loyal outsiders known for their fondness for badgers. According to the announcement, Nerdist described the comedy as a show that “never goes more than a minute without a laugh.”

Beau Wade, the show’s director, spoke about what audiences can expect. “Puffs! is the wonderfully told tale of seven years at a certain school of magic we’ve all come to know and love,” Wade said. “The show blends humor, heart, and hijinks to give everyone a new spin on an old tale.” Wade added, “Come join us as we learn all about what goes on in the common room closest to the kitchens, how failure can sometimes be our greatest success, and how everyone gets to be the hero of their own story.”

The production stars Seth Kirk as Wayne Hopkins, Quentin Barreto as Oliver Rivers, Andrea Oliveras as Megan Jones, and Anna Burns as the Narrator. Seven additional actors—Isabella Bond, Jen Chidekel, Reed Grubs, Kole Leonard, Kelvin Niebla, Danno Waddell, and April Whaley—play the remaining 46 characters in the show.
