The Flagler Beach Historical Museum will celebrate its 25th anniversary with a special reception recognizing the people, stories, and community support that have helped preserve Flagler Beach’s history for a quarter-century. The anniversary celebration will take place on Tuesday, September 29 at 6:30 p.m. at the Flagler Beach Historical Museum, located at 207 S Central Ave., Flagler Beach.
Founded in 2001, the Flagler Beach Historical Museum has spent the past 25 years collecting, preserving, and sharing the history of Flagler Beach and the surrounding community. From the people and places that shaped the area to the artifacts and stories that bring that history to life, the Museum provides a place for residents and visitors to connect with the community’s past.
The anniversary celebration will also honor Catherine Wilson’s enduring legacy through the presentation of the inaugural Catherine Wilson Award to two young adults who have demonstrated a commitment to preserving and sharing local history. Their recognition represents the Museum’s belief that the responsibility of keeping Flagler Beach’s stories alive belongs not only to those who came before, but also to the next generation of history keepers.
“This anniversary is about so much more than a number,” said Sheila Pillath, Executive Director. “It’s an opportunity to celebrate everyone who has played a part in the Museum’s story and to look ahead to the people who will carry that story forward. Founding members like Catherine Wilson understood the importance of preserving our history, and it is especially meaningful to honor her legacy by recognizing young people who are helping ensure that our history continues to be remembered and shared.”
Guests will have an opportunity to celebrate this milestone, learn more about the Museum’s history and recognize those who have helped make its work possible. The evening will also look toward the future and the continued role the Museum can play in preserving and sharing Flagler Beach’s unique story.
