Flagler County Sheriff’s Office deputies made 10 arrests this past weekend between 6 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 11, 2026, and 6 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 14, 2026. Deputies handled 788 calls for service and made 127 traffic stops.
Man Arrested for Fleeing and Eluding After Refusing to Stop
On Friday, deputies arrested a Palm Coast man after he refused to pull over for a traffic stop.
Just before midnight, a deputy attempted a traffic stop on Kingswood Drive in Palm Coast on a vehicle after observing a traffic infraction. Despite the deputy activating his lights and sirens, the driver of the vehicle refused to stop. The vehicle proceeded to travel erratically through multiple roadways and parking lots, eventually coming to a stop in the parking lot of the Palm Coast Professional Complex off Old Kings Road North.
Deputies conducted a high-risk traffic stop and took the driver, identified as Floyd Gaines Jr., 42, of Palm Coast, into custody. While speaking with deputies, Gaines made inconsistent statements, first telling deputies he was looking for a well-lit area to stop, then later stating he did not see the deputy behind him.
Deputies arrested Gaines for fleeing or attempting to elude a law enforcement officer with lights and sirens activated. He was transported to the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility, where he was later released on a $2,500 bond.

“Fleeing from deputies is a stupid decision, because you’re not going to get away,” said Sheriff Rick Staly. “What would have just been a simple traffic ticket or warning instead turned into a felony charge and a trip to the Green Roof Inn.”
Deputies additionally issued Gaines a criminal traffic citation.

Woman Throws Temper Tantrum After Domestic Violence Arrest, Kicks Deputy
On Saturday, deputies arrested a Palm Coast woman after she kicked a deputy while already under arrest for domestic violence.
Saturday evening, deputies responded to investigate a domestic disturbance that had been reported in the B-Section of Palm Coast. After investigation, deputies determined Julia Jones, 40, of Palm Coast, was the primary aggressor in the incident and took her into custody.
While being placed under arrest, Jones became combative and uncooperative with deputies, which required deputies to lift her off her feet and carry her to a patrol vehicle. As deputies were doing so, Jones began screaming and kicking her feet, striking a deputy in the chest. Deputies gained control of Jones and placed her in the vehicle.
Deputies arrested Jones for domestic battery on a person over 65 and battery on a law enforcement officer. While being transported to the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility, Jones lost consciousness and was taken to AdventHealth Palm Coast. After receiving medical clearance, she was transported to the jail, where she was later released on a $5,000 bond.

Jones was arrested previously for battery on law enforcement officer during a 2024 incident in which she berated and spit on deputies who were responding to a report she was highly intoxicated and causing a disturbance. Although the battery charge was not prosecuted, Jones was found guilty of disorderly intoxication and resisting an officer without violence in the case. She had been placed on probation, which she was allowed to end early.
“Deputies carry this woman kicking and screaming to jail,” said Sheriff Staly. “While she was throwing her tantrum, she kicked a deputy in the chest and was arrested for another felony. If you act like a child with a temper tantrum and resist deputies who are just doing their jobs, you will go to jail every time with more charges. And what’s worse, this isn’t the first time we’ve had to deal with her and her childish behavior. Hopefully, she’ll learn her lesson this time after spending time in jail.”
