The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that left one man hospitalized after a road rage confrontation spilled into the drive-thru of a Palm Coast McDonald’s late Tuesday night.

At approximately 10:20 p.m. on May 26, 2026, deputies responded to the McDonald’s at 4851 Belle Terre Parkway after multiple 911 calls reported a reckless driver, a road rage incident, and shots fired. When deputies arrived, they found multiple people at the scene, including a 50-year-old Palm Coast man who detectives determined had fired the shots, and a 61-year-old man from Daytona North who had a facial injury and multiple gunshot wounds.

Palm Coast Fire Department and Flagler County Fire Rescue paramedics treated the injured man at the scene before he was flown by air ambulance to Halifax Health Medical Center in Daytona Beach, where he is listed in stable condition. The shooter was also taken to a medical facility for evaluation and treatment.

The FCSO Major Case and Crime Scene Investigation units responded overnight and interviewed multiple witnesses. According to the initial investigation, the confrontation started as a separate road rage incident on Belle Terre Parkway before escalating into the McDonald’s parking lot, where the shooting occurred. Detectives noted that others involved in the road rage dispute were not directly involved in the shooting itself. Investigators are continuing to work to determine whether any relationship exists between all parties involved.

As of the release of this report, no arrests had been made.

“Our deputies, detectives, and crime scene investigators worked throughout the night and are still working diligently to investigate the circumstances surrounding this case,” said Sheriff Rick Staly. “We have identified all persons involved, and there is no threat to the community. I remind all drivers that it is much better to call law enforcement and let us investigate than to engage in a road rage incident.”

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the FCSO non-emergency line at 386-313-4911 or Crime Stoppers at 1-888-277-TIPS (8477).
