Former Ocala Mayor Kent Guinn has announced his endorsement of Charles Gambaro, the Republican candidate running for Florida’s 6th Congressional District seat. The primary election is scheduled for August 18, 2026.

Guinn served the city of Ocala for more than 24 years in elected office — 12 years as Mayor and 12 years as City Councilman. In his endorsement statement, Guinn highlighted Gambaro’s military background and record of public service.

“General Gambaro has served his nation and community for almost three decades,” Guinn said. “He is a fellow resident and neighbor who does not shy away from tackling challenges head-on and driving positive results for our community. He is a shining example of a servant leader and one who fights for his community with the heart of a warrior. General Gambaro is a highly decorated Combat Veteran who has led our troops in battle and is absolutely the right leader to represent all of us in Congress. Charlie has my full endorsement, and I encourage the residents of Ocala and Marion County to support his campaign and vote for him on August 18, 2026.”

Gambaro, who currently serves on the Palm Coast City Council, thanked Guinn for the support and outlined priorities for his potential congressional role.

“I am beyond honored to receive the support and endorsement from Mayor Kent Guinn,” Gambaro said. “He is a true man of character and integrity. Mayor Guinn is an absolute legend. His decades of service exemplify a true executive leader who drives effective change for his community. Together, we will work to deliver results for our communities… stronger borders, safer neighborhoods, and a government that works for the people.”

Florida’s 6th Congressional District spans six counties. Gambaro’s campaign states that the endorsement reflects growing support from community leaders and conservatives across the district.
