During the meeting at City Hall, the Palm Coast City Council passed the amendments for the signage in the Unified Land Development Code. This was the second read of the ordinance, and the second vote made the changes final.

Also during the meeting, the council discussed the proposed contract with Douglas Law Firm. Douglas Law Firm is the firm that would be taking over the city’s legal needs. The council voted unanimously to hire the Douglas Firm as the new legal counsel for the City of Palm Coast.

The light agenda, and small crowd held for a rare meeting that lasted roughly two hours. During the closing of the council meeting, council members Alfin, Heighter, klufas, Danko and Pontieri all gave their thanks and well wishes to the previously law firm as this was their last meeting serving the City of Palm Coast. Members also welcomed the new legal team to the fold.

Pontieri additionally commented that she would like to see the new legal team and the city staff to work together to help safeguard the commercially zoned areas in the city, as her opinion lends itself to a need for the city to diversify the tax base for the city.
