From Pauper to Princess; Jojo’s Adoption Story with the Help of Flagler County residents and SMART Animal Rescue

Jojo was an abandoned dog, found November 5th of 2023 with a collar and lock on her neck. Her dire conditions and malnutrition were enough to cause SMART animal rescue to take her in and start looking for a foster. While SMART had no plans available for a foster, that didn’t stop them from taking her and looking to find her a foster family who would help nurse her back to health while the search for a forever family began.

Carrie and Todd had previously lost their beloved dog just days before Jojo was found, and they had offered to foster Jojo for a week to allow SMART some time to find a more permanent solution. Carrie and Todd ended up fostering Jojo for 7 weeks; Jojo received love and care allowing her the chance to regain her confidence and learn to trust humans again, while Carrie and Todd received love and nurturing from Jojo, allowing them to grieve when they needed it most.

Carrie and Todd weren’t quite ready to adopt so soon after their loss, but they ultimately couldn’t imagine a life without Jojo in it. Jojo officially became a foster fail and has her forever family where she will live the life of a princess with a family that loves her.
