Chiumento Law, a pillar of the community for half a century, is proud to announce its 50th anniversary community commitment campaign. Over the past few months, the firm has showcased its dedication to the community by highlighting the support of numerous community members. A fraction of this commitment to the community culminated in a heartwarming client appreciation event held in December, where Chiumento Law expressed its gratitude to clients past and present with treats and hot cocoa.

As part of its ongoing mission to serve the Flagler community, Chiumento Law is gearing up for a significant event in February 2024. The firm will launch a commitment campaign that not only celebrates its 50 years in business but also introduces a crucial initiative – the Chiumento CARES Fund (Community Assistance Relief Ending Student Homelessness).

The Chiumento CARES Fund is designed to address the pressing issue of student homelessness in Flagler County school aged children, filling the gap left by federal funding from the McKinney-Vento Act. Currently, Flagler Schools has over 240 students experiencing homelessness. Homelessness, as defined for this initiative, encompasses not only those without a fixed, regular, and adequate nighttime residence but also individuals who are sharing the housing of others due to loss of housing, economic hardship, or other reasons. (Examples, couch surfing, staying with extended family, staying in tents, or motels and so on.)

Over the past several months, dedicated members of the Chiumento team have collaborated closely with the Flagler County Education Foundation and Rashawnda Lloyd-Miller, the FIT program coordinator for Flagler Schools, to understand the gaps and needs of the program. The Chiumento CARES Fund aims to raise funds to address these voids and provide long-term solutions for school-aged families experiencing homelessness, including property or rental assistance in the second and phase third of the initiative.

The community’s support is instrumental in kicking off this campaign. Chiumento Law is working hand in hand with the Flagler Education Foundation and Superintendent LaShakia Moore, to facilitate the funds and provide crucial support to the Flagler Schools Families in Transition (FIT) program.

“We are thrilled that the Chiumento Law team is collaborating with the Flagler County Education Foundation to create a brighter future for our F.I.T. families,” said LaShakia Moore, Flagler County Schools Superintendent. “These families are facing challenging times, and together, we can work to enhance their educational experiences and establish a strong foundation at home as well.”
