FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. — Voters settled several local races in the recent primary election, while a handful of crowded contests remain undecided and will move on to the November general election, according to unofficial results posted on Florida’s election reporting site. Overall voter turnout for the primary election was 29.96%; of 98,714 registered voters, 29,757 ballots were cast.
Under the rules, a race with only two candidates is decided in the primary, and the candidate with the most votes wins. In a race with more than two candidates, someone can win outright only by taking a majority of the vote. If no one reaches that mark, the top two finishers advance to the general election.
Here is how the results broke down.
Races decided
In the Republican primary for County Commission, District 2, Theresa Pontieri won with 52.09% (8,336 votes) over Greg Feldman, who had 47.91% (7,666). The race drew 16,002 votes.
In the Republican primary for County Commission, District 4, Leann Pennington won outright with 54.58% (8,520 votes) — clearing the majority needed in a three-person race. Drew Moss finished second with 24.65% (3,847), and Anna Jones had 20.77% (3,242). The race drew 15,609 votes.
For Circuit Judge, 7th Judicial Circuit, Group 26, Jeanne Stratis won with 62.82% (15,794 votes) over Carleen Leffler, who had 37.18% (9,346). This nonpartisan race drew 25,140 votes.
In School Board, District 1 (Flagler), Cathy Moon won with 55.93% (15,000 votes) over Jill R. Woolbright, who had 44.07% (11,818). The race drew 26,818 votes.
In School Board, District 2 (Flagler), Rob Wood won with 59.05% (15,668 votes) over Will Furry, who had 40.95% (10,866). The race drew 26,534 votes.
Races headed to November
Three contests had more than two candidates, and no one reached a majority, so the top two in each will advance.
