Flagler County Sheriff’s Office deputies made seven arrests between 6 p.m. Friday, March 13, and 6 a.m. Monday, March 16, 2026. Over that stretch, deputies responded to 735 calls for service and conducted 93 traffic stops. Two of the weekend’s arrests stood out for their serious nature.

Georgia Teen Caught with Stolen Gun During Traffic Stop

On Sunday morning, a deputy pulled over a Hyundai Santa Fe in the area of Lewis Drive and London Drive in Palm Coast after the driver ran a stop sign. Deputies noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle, and none of the occupants had a valid medical marijuana card.

During a search of a passenger, deputies found a firearm tucked in the waistband of Corey Brown, 19, of Gwinnett County, Georgia. The gun was later confirmed to be stolen. Brown told deputies he did not know the weapon was stolen and that he had bought it off the street in Atlanta.

Sheriff Rick Staly addressed the situation directly. “Purchasing a gun ‘off the streets’ in Atlanta is asking for trouble,” Staly said. “Often, guns used in serious crimes, like murder, are passed around and sold on the street many times, and the person caught with it is left holding the bag for an even more serious crime. He learned the hard way that he shouldn’t have come to Flagler County with a stolen gun and smoking pot.”

Brown was charged with grand theft of a firearm and unlawful carrying of a concealed weapon. He was booked at the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility and is being held on a $5,000 bond. The driver and other passengers were released, and a small amount of marijuana was confiscated for destruction.

Palm Coast Woman Arrested for DUI After Hitting Multiple Vehicles and Fleeing

On Sunday evening, the Flagler County Emergency Communications Center received multiple calls just after 5 p.m. reporting a crash in which a vehicle had struck multiple cars and then fled the scene. With help from witnesses who tracked the vehicle, deputies located a black Toyota Tacoma with significant front-end damage stopped near Ulaturn Trail and Seminole Woods Boulevard.

The driver, identified as Marina Brandon, 25, of Palm Coast, appeared partially clothed and disheveled when deputies made contact with her. She was unable to speak clearly, smelled strongly of alcohol, and stumbled repeatedly after exiting the vehicle. Deputies conducted a DUI investigation, during which Brandon was unable to complete most field sobriety exercises.

Breath testing conducted after her arrest revealed a blood alcohol content of .250 — more than three times Florida’s legal limit of .08.

Sheriff Staly emphasized the danger the incident posed to others. “This incident shows just how dangerous drinking and driving can be,” he said. “The driver not only chose to get behind the wheel while more than three times the legal limit, but also struck several vehicles and fled. When she sobers up, she should be thankful that she did not seriously injure or kill someone. I thank the witnesses for ‘seeing something and saying something,’ so we could get her off the streets.”

Brandon refused medical treatment at a local hospital and was transported to the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility. She faces charges of DUI with property damage, operating a motor vehicle without a license, and leaving the scene of a crash involving property damage. She was released on a $5,500 bond.
