A Jacksonville man who was arrested in July 2025 on 40 counts related to child sexual abuse material has been convicted and sentenced to prison following a guilty plea entered in the Flagler County circuit court.
The Sentence
On March 4, Amias Mabini, 26, of Jacksonville, pleaded guilty to 12 of the 40 counts of viewing and distribution of child pornography that had been charged against him. Circuit Judge Dawn Nichols sentenced Mabini to five years in a Florida Department of Corrections prison, to be followed by 10 years of sex offender probation. Mabini will also be required to register as a sex offender for the remainder of his life. At the time of sentencing, Mabini remained held at the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility in Bunnell, awaiting transfer to state prison custody.
The Investigation
The case began in January 2025 when the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office Cyber Crimes and Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Unit received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The tip indicated that a user on the messaging app Kik had been sharing child sexual abuse material in September 2024. Through their investigation, detectives identified Mabini as the account holder.
Detectives documented 40 separate instances of Mabini viewing and transmitting child sexual abuse material. The activity was traced to a residence on Plain View Drive in Palm Coast, though by the time of his arrest, Mabini had moved to Jacksonville.
On July 12, 2025, detectives asked Mabini to come to the Sheriff’s Operations Center in Bunnell to discuss an allegation of abuse. During that interview, Mabini admitted to viewing and distributing child pornography. He was then arrested on the spot on 40 counts of viewing and distribution of child pornography — 32 counts with an enhancement and 8 counts without — and transported to the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility, where he was held on a $480,000 bond.

Sheriff’s Statement
Following the sentencing, Sheriff Rick Staly released a statement crediting the investigation and the state attorney’s office for the outcome. “Our thorough investigation, and the state attorney’s office’s aggressive stance on those who view and distribute child sexual abuse material, lead to a lengthy prison sentence for this pervert,” Staly said. “Our Cyber Crimes/ICAC detectives and partners work tirelessly to identify offenders, build strong cases, and hold them accountable.”
At the time of Mabini’s arrest in July 2025, Sheriff Staly had issued a broader warning. “Let this be a clear message to anyone who thinks they can hide behind a keyboard to exploit children,” he said. “We will find you, arrest you, and hold you accountable. FCSO and our partners are relentless in protecting our most vulnerable and will continue to pursue perverts with every tool available. We do not tolerate this behavior in our community, not now, not ever.”
Regional Task Force Involvement
The investigation was conducted with support from a regional law enforcement task force known as NEFL INTERCEPT — the Northeast Florida Inter-Agency Child Exploitation and Persons Trafficking Task Force. Flagler County joined this task force in April 2025. The multi-agency initiative includes investigators and analysts from the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, Nassau County Sheriff’s Office, Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, and Homeland Security Investigations.
NEFL INTERCEPT operates in partnership with Operation Lightshine, a nonprofit organization that supports law enforcement with investigative resources, victim rescue efforts, and offender accountability efforts.
