The parking lot at River-to-Sea Preserve will close for about six weeks as Flagler County shifts its emergency dune restoration project to a new location.

Flagler County officials announced that the main access point for the emergency dune restoration work will move to River-to-Sea Preserve beginning Monday, February 2. The parking lot is expected to remain closed until March 13.

“The contractor will be working to demobilize and remove all equipment from MalaCompra Park and begin mobilization to River-to-Sea on Monday, February 2,” said County Engineer Hamid Tabbasian. “Sand deliveries will likely start on Friday (February 6).”

As work shifts to the new location, MalaCompra Park will reopen early in February.

County officials are asking residents and visitors to use caution around the construction equipment and sand delivery trucks during the project.
