By-Line: Julie Murphy, Flagler County Government
Flagler County Fire Rescue Chief Michael Tucker was redesignated Chief Fire Officer (CFO) through the Center for Public Safety Excellence (CPSE). The Commission on Professional Credentialling (CPC) met July 7 to confer the designation that elevates Tucker to one of a mere 2,118 CFOs worldwide.
“Achieving this designation signifies Chief Tucker’s career commitment to the fire and emergency services,” said Commission on Professional Credentialling Program Manager Mike Higgins. “The Commission on Professional Credentialing awards the designation only after an individual successfully meets all the organization’s stringent criteria using a peer-review model to evaluate candidates.”
The program is voluntary and designed to recognize individuals who demonstrate their excellence in seven measured components, including experience, education, professional development, professional contributions, association membership, community involvement, and technical competence. Additionally, all applicants are required to identify a future professional development plan.
“It is a great honor to receive this redesignation as Chief Fire Officer,” Tucker said. “We encourage the men and women of Flagler County Fire Rescue to strive for achievements that reflect the high standards and professionalism of our organization. The best way to do this is to lead by example.”
The designation is valid for a period of three years.
