City Repertory Theatre wraps its 2025–26 season with a Broadway concert and a trio of one-act plays that range from the thought-provoking to the outright silly.

City Repertory Theatre (CRT) of Palm Coast is closing its 2025–26 season with two separate events this spring. The first is a Broadway-themed concert on April 11 and 12, and the second is an evening of one-act plays running from April 24 through May 3, 2026. Both events take place at CRT’s home venue at 160 Cypress Point Parkway, Suite B-207, in Palm Coast.

“What If?” — A Broadway concert

The first event is part of CRT’s ongoing concert series called “An Evening With…” This installment is subtitled “What If?” and features 11 actors from CRT’s regular company, led by Laniece Fagundes. For this show, performers were given the freedom to choose Broadway songs they have always wanted to sing but may never have had the chance to perform — with no restrictions based on age or gender. Songs on the program include “I Can Do That” from A Chorus Line, “Agony” from Into the Woods, and “She Used to be Mine” from Waitress, among others.

Performances of “What If?” are scheduled for April 11 at 7 p.m. and April 12 at 3 p.m.

Three one-act plays: Line, Sure Thing, and The Universal Language

Later in April, CRT will stage an evening of three one-act plays. The first is Line, written by Israel Horovitz. The play follows a group of people waiting in a mysterious line where everyone is determined to be first, regardless of what they must do to get there. According to CRT, the play explores human nature through that simple but competitive setup.

Line holds a notable place in theater history. It ran for 43 years at the 13th Street Theater in New York, making it the longest-running Off-Off-Broadway play ever produced. The play has been translated into more than 30 languages and performed around the world. Its author, Israel Horovitz (1939–2020), was a playwright, director, and actor who wrote more than 70 plays during his career. Among his best-known works is The Indian Wants the Bronx, which had its Off-Broadway debut featuring a young Al Pacino and John Cazale.

The other two plays on the bill — Sure Thing and The Universal Language — are both written by David Ives and drawn from his collection of short comedies, All in the Timing!, which was first produced Off-Broadway in 1993. In Sure Thing, a couple meets at a café and a magical bell resets their conversation every time something goes wrong, letting them replay the scene with different outcomes. In The Universal Language, a man teaches a woman a made-up language where the word “hello” means “Velcro,” leading to an unexpectedly meaningful connection. Ives has been writing for the American stage for 50 years, with other credits including Time Flies, Venus in Fur, and New Jerusalem: The Interrogation of Baruch de Spinoza, as well as several radio plays and verse adaptations of French comedies.

Performances of the one-act plays run Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m., from April 24 through May 3, 2026.
