Kevin Cichowski, 46, who is running for governor of Florida, was taken into custody following a domestic disturbance on Cleveland Court in Palm Coast on April 10, 2026.

The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) arrested Kevin Cichowski, 46, of Palm Coast, on the morning of April 10, 2026, following a domestic disturbance with a weapon at a residence on Cleveland Court in the C-Section of Palm Coast. Cichowski is currently a candidate for governor of Florida and previously ran for Palm Coast mayor in 2021.

What happened

The Flagler County Emergency Communications Center received a 911 call reporting that Cichowski had battered two elderly victims inside the home — striking one with a cane and throwing a cellphone at the other. The caller, who was one of the victims, also reported that Cichowski allegedly had a gun and had threatened to kill both victims multiple times. The caller further stated that Cichowski had threatened to kill any law enforcement officers who responded to the scene.

When deputies arrived, they found the two victims hiding in a bedroom. One of the victims was bedridden and unable to leave the home on their own. Deputies safely escorted both victims out of the residence through the lanai before making contact with Cichowski. Once ordered to surrender, Cichowski complied and was taken into custody without incident.

Charges filed

Cichowski was arrested on eight charges: two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, two counts of battery on a person over the age of 65, one count of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, one count of tampering with a witness, and two counts of robbery by sudden snatching.

While being transported to the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility, Cichowski made suicidal statements. He was placed into protective custody under the Baker Act, a Florida law that allows for involuntary mental health evaluation when a person is considered a potential danger to themselves.

Technology used in the response

During the incident, FCSO deputies were supported by an agency drone and the Real Time Crime Center (RTCC), which provided live tactical intelligence through drone cameras and deputies’ body cameras.

“When responding to a situation where a suspect has a weapon and has threatened to kill the victims and law enforcement, it’s critical that we do everything we can to safely de-escalate the situation and quickly rescue the victims from immediate danger. I commend our deputies, RTCC analysts, and the 911 dispatchers for working together for a safe resolution and arrest the suspect before the situation escalated to a violent ending.”
