The Southern Recreation Center will host the High School District Tennis Tournament on Monday and Tuesday, April 14 and 15, bringing together student-athletes from seven schools for two days of competitive tennis. The event is free and open to the public.

Seven schools will compete in the tournament: Bartram Trail, Beachside, Clay, Matanzas, Nease, Ponte Vedra, and St. Augustine. Each match includes five singles matches and two doubles matches, creating a full-day schedule of competition across both days.

The tournament carries significant stakes for the teams and individual players involved. The top two finishing teams will advance to regional play, and regional winners will earn a spot in the state tournament. Additionally, the number one-seeded winners in both singles and doubles will automatically qualify for the state tournament, regardless of how their team finishes overall.

James Hirst, Director of Parks and Recreation for the City of Palm Coast, encouraged residents to attend. “This is exactly the kind of event we love bringing to Palm Coast,” Hirst said. “It gives our residents a chance to experience high-level competition right here at home while highlighting the hard work, discipline, and sportsmanship of these student-athletes. We invite the community to come out, enjoy the matches, and be part of the energy these teams bring to the courts.”

The Southern Recreation Center is located in Palm Coast and is accessible to all residents. No tickets or registration are required to attend. For more information about events at the Southern Recreation Center and other city parks and recreation programs, visit www.palmcoastgov.com.
