The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office made 11 arrests over Easter weekend, between 6 p.m. Friday, April 3, and 6 a.m. Monday, April 6, 2026. During that same period, deputies handled 746 calls for service and conducted 167 traffic stops. Two of those stops led to significant narcotics arrests.

South Daytona Man Arrested With Nearly 400 Pills

Just after midnight on April 4, a deputy pulled over a vehicle in Bunnell after noticing a taillight was out. The driver, Dequan Lundy, 32, of South Daytona, was found to have an active Flagler County warrant for failure to appear on a prior possession of cocaine charge.

A search of the vehicle turned up an extensive collection of drugs. In the glove box, deputies found a Ziplock bag containing approximately 290 round, white, unlabeled pills weighing 160.52 grams, which tested presumptive positive for MDMA. In the center console, a clear jar held a mix of pills — including two blue “Superman”-shaped pills that tested presumptive positive for fentanyl, along with multiple pills in various colors that also tested presumptive positive for MDMA. Deputies also recovered approximately 18 grams of a substance that tested presumptive positive for marijuana, a small bag of white powder that tested presumptive positive for MDMA, four vape pens containing THC/hashish oil, a glass pipe with marijuana residue, and two glass capsules with marijuana residue. In total, nearly 400 pills were recovered from the vehicle.

Sheriff Rick Staly commented on the arrest: “Most people’s Easter baskets are full of colored eggs and candy. This Easter, a poison peddler had an illegal smorgasbord of colorful pills and poison. If you’re carrying enough MDMA to stock a Stockholm nightclub and fentanyl that can kill with a tiny dose, we’re going to find you and arrest you. I commend our deputy for looking beyond the traffic stop and getting this poison off the streets.”

Lundy was charged with trafficking in phenethylamines (MDMA), possession of fentanyl, possession of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, possession of drug paraphernalia, and failure to appear for a prior possession of cocaine charge. He was transported to the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility, where he is being held on no bond.

Palm Coast Woman Arrested on Meth Charges After I-95 Stop

Late on Sunday evening, April 5, a deputy on Interstate 95 pulled over a Ford F-150 for speeding and failing to maintain its lane. Both the driver and passenger were asked to exit the vehicle. Deputies observed the passenger, Brittany Cowart, 20, of Palm Coast, attempting to conceal a plastic bag on the passenger side of the vehicle as she got out.

In plain view on the passenger side were a piece of tinfoil, a red straw with a burnt tip, and the plastic bag Cowart had tried to hide. A search of the vehicle uncovered a purse belonging to Cowart containing several unused syringes, a scale with residue, and a yellow round pill later identified as quetiapine fumarate, an antipsychotic medication. Deputies also found a clear pill organizer containing multiple small amounts of crystal, green, pink, and white powdery substances — all of which separately tested presumptive positive for methamphetamine or amphetamine, totaling approximately four grams. Four additional quetiapine fumarate pills were found in the back passenger seat, and a small rubber container in Cowart’s possession held a crystal substance that also tested presumptive positive for methamphetamine.

When told that deputies had found drugs inside the vehicle, Cowart responded, “Happy Easter.”

Cowart was charged with one count of possession of a harmful new legend drug without a prescription, six counts of possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. She was taken to the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility and is being held on $33,000 bond.
