The Flagler Beach Historical Museum is gearing up for a pair of community events in early March, including its first annual Museum Member Beach Bonfire and a hands-on Shark Tooth and Shell Dig for families during First Friday.

The bonfire is scheduled for Sunday, March 8, from 5 to 7 p.m. at 10th Street North on the beach. The casual gathering is open to museum members and their families, and attendees are encouraged to bring blankets or chairs. The Eastern Surfing Association is sponsoring marshmallows and drinks for the event. The museum has also partnered with Break Awayz restaurant, located at 819 Ocean Shore Boulevard, and will provide attendees with discount coupons. If a burn ban is still in effect at the time of the event, the museum will host an alternate activity at the same date and time.

Those who are not yet members can join for as little as $15 by visiting the museum’s website at flaglerbeachhistoricalmuseum.org.

Ahead of the bonfire, the museum is also preparing for First Friday on March 6 by collecting shark teeth and interesting shells for its Shark Tooth and Shell Dig. The donated items will be used to create a hands-on experience for kids and families. Residents who wish to contribute are asked to drop off donations at the museum by Wednesday, March 4.

The Flagler Beach Historical Museum’s mission is to preserve and share Flagler Beach’s unique history through exhibits, educational programming, and community events. The museum is located at 207 South Central Avenue in Flagler Beach and is open daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, residents can call 386-517-2025 or follow the museum on Facebook at facebook.com/flaglerbeachhistoricalmuseum.
