Commissioners invite community to December 30 event following $240,000 in upgrades
The Flagler County Board of County Commissioners has announced a grand reopening celebration for the Wadsworth Skate Park after the facility underwent significant renovations over the past three weeks.
The event is scheduled for 10 a.m. on December 30 at the skate park, which is located at Wadsworth Park, 2200 Moody Boulevard in Flagler Beach. The skate park sits to the right of the park’s driveway.
The project cost $240,000 and included the replacement of 60 percent of the park’s equipment, including ramps and grind rails. Workers also completed concrete repairs, installed new chain-link fencing, and repainted the adjacent bathroom facility.
The park quietly reopened ahead of the official celebration, with young skaters already taking advantage of the updated features during the school holiday break.
“It is exciting to see so many children fully enjoying the park on the first day it was reopened following three weeks of construction,” said BOCC Vice Chair Kim Carney on Monday. “As the District 3 representative, it was a pleasure to bring about significant upgrades and renovations.”
BOCC Chair Leann Pennington noted the timing worked well for local families.
“It’s wonderful that the soft reopening coincides with students being home from school for the holidays,” Pennington said. “The Skate Park means so much to the community.”
The Board of County Commissioners has invited all residents to attend the grand reopening celebration.
