Residents invited to review plans for Forest Park Street, Walnut Avenue, and Canal Avenue improvements

Residents will have the chance to weigh in on three significant paving projects in the Daytona North area during an open-house style meeting scheduled for November 4, Flagler County officials announced Tuesday.

The Flagler County Engineering Department will host the public gathering from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Hidden Trails Community Center, located at 6108 Mahogany Boulevard. The meeting will focus on road improvement plans for Forest Park Street, Walnut Avenue, and Canal Avenue—projects that collectively span nearly nine miles of roadway.

County Engineer Hamid Tabassian emphasized the interactive nature of the event, which is designed to accommodate community members’ schedules and encourage meaningful dialogue.

“Participants will have an opportunity to review exhibits at three project stations,” Tabassian said. “They can do this at their own pace, engage with staff, and provide input and comments to us.”

The three projects currently in design and permitting phases include:

The Forest Park Street project will pave approximately 3.2 miles stretching from State Road 100 to the roadway’s terminus south of County Road 90. Meanwhile, both the Walnut Avenue and Canal Avenue projects will each address roughly 2.7 miles of roadway, with both routes extending from Water Oak Road to Forest Park Street.

The open-house format allows attendees to arrive at any point during the two-hour window, review project materials at dedicated stations, and speak directly with engineering staff about concerns or suggestions.

Community input gathered at the meeting will be incorporated into the ongoing planning process as the county moves forward with these infrastructure improvements aimed at enhancing transportation in the Daytona North corridor.
