June 30th, 2023, a Palm Coast resident called the FCSO to report her vehicle stolen overnight. Community Policing Division Corporal Rossi and RTCC Supervisor North were able to collaborate and track the vehicle between St. Johns County and back all before it was reported stolen. They were also able to determine that it was back in Flagler County at its last known location.
Deputies responded to the last known location of the vehicle and were able to locate it nearby in the area of Palm Coast Parkway NE and Boulder Rock Drive. When the vehicle noted deputies in the area, it fled; but deputies had already established a perimeter at nearby intersections and were ready to deploy their Stop Sticks.
Deputy Magnuson was able to get a positive Stop Stick hit and disabling the vehicle which stopped near Palm Coast Parkway SW and Cypress Point Parkway. The driver then fled via foot, and was apprehended after a brief foot pursuit.
During the investigation into the stolen vehicle call, the FCSO Communications started to receive multiple calls from L-Section residents who reported stolen items including lawn care items. The stolen items were found inside the stolen vehicle.
The driver was identified as Nathan Ellison and was arrested and charged with Grand Theft – Motor Vehicle, Fleeing and Eluding, and Resisting Arrest without Violence. Ellison was also determined to be a fugitive, wanted by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office for Fraudulent Activities.
The passenger was identified as Veronica Brady and was arrested for Grand Theft – Motor Vehicle and Possession of Burglary Tools with Intent.
The Jacksonville couple have a lengthy arrest record in the Duval County. Ellisons history includes Burglary, Theft, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon and more. Brady’s history includes Trafficking Fentanyl, Trafficking Methamphetamine, Possession of Cocaine and more.
“Another fugitive and poison peddler couple made the mistake of coming to Flagler County to commit crimes,” said Sheriff Rick Staly. “This is another success story for our Realtime Crime Center using the technology we have implemented along with great teamwork by everyone involved quickly putting a stop to these dirtbags crime spree. They learned the hard way, like many others before them, to not come to Flagler County. Hopefully all of the charges they racked up in Flagler will keep them from ever coming back here again and will send them away to state prison.”
