Patti King resigns from museum position to focus on mayoral duties; board launches search for part-time replacement paying up to $2,000 monthly
The Flagler Beach Historical Museum announced that Executive Director Patti King has resigned from her position, effective November 28, 2025, to concentrate on her responsibilities as Mayor of the City of Flagler Beach.
Transition Leadership
Robert Creal, FBHM Board President, acknowledged King’s service and expressed optimism about the change.
“We are grateful for Patti’s service to the Museum and understand her decision to dedicate her full attention to leading our city as Mayor,” Creal said. “This transition presents an exciting opportunity to welcome new leadership with fresh ideas and energy to guide the Museum into its next chapter.”
King expressed appreciation for her time at the museum.
“I have enjoyed working with the Board and community to strengthen the Flagler Beach Historical Museum,” King said. “Now is the time for new thoughts, innovative ideas, and new energy to carry it into the future.”
Position Details
The Museum’s Board of Directors has immediately begun searching for a new Executive Director. The position is structured as follows:
- Part-time, mostly work-from-home role (no dedicated office space available)
- 1099 contractor position
- Compensation up to $2,000 per month
- Target fill date: mid-November 2025
Candidate Requirements
The museum seeks candidates with proven experience in:
- Museum administration
- Collections management
- Fundraising
- Community engagement
- Program development
While a bachelor’s degree is preferred, the board will strongly consider candidates with equivalent experience.
The museum is looking for someone who will bring “creative vision and collaborative leadership to this historic gem at the heart of Flagler Beach,” according to the announcement.

The Flagler Beach Historical Museum will maintain normal operations during the leadership transition.
