Suzanne Carter, a paraprofessional at Old Kings Elementary School, has been named the winner of the 2025 Outstanding Achievement by a Paraprofessional Award by the Florida Association for Education and Rehabilitation of the Blind and Visually Impaired (FAER).

Carter received the recognition for her work with Old Kings Elementary fifth-grader Maverick Fitzgerald. The award honors paraprofessionals who have made significant contributions in their work with students who are blind or visually impaired.

As a member of the Exceptional Student Education (ESE) team, Carter provides specialized support to students with unique learning needs. Her efforts with Fitzgerald distinguished her among paraprofessionals across the state.

The Florida Association for Education and Rehabilitation of the Blind and Visually Impaired is a professional organization dedicated to supporting educators and specialists who work with visually impaired individuals.

Carter will be recognized at a state ceremony in Altamonte Springs later this month, where she will officially receive her award alongside other honorees from across Florida.
