“See Something, Say Something” Leads to Arrest of Convicted Felon Driving with Pistols Akimbo

On Friday evening, deputies responded to the area of Palm Coast Parkway and Old Kings Road in Palm Coast after a 911 caller reported that a male was driving a white Chevrolet Equinox with two pistols in his hands. According to the caller, the male did not point the firearms at anyone but was waving them around inside the vehicle.

Problem Area Crime Enforcement Unit detectives located the vehicle on Old Kings Road and followed as it turned onto Palm Coast Parkway, then to Belle Terre Parkway. While behind the vehicle, detectives observed that it was traveling at a very slow speed, weaving within its lane, and committed traffic infractions.

As the vehicle turned onto Brownstone Lane, detectives initiated a high-risk traffic stop. During the stop, detectives noticed that the vehicle’s driver, identified as Tyler Bradbury, 28, of Palm Coast, had slurred speech lethargic movements and the smell of alcohol coming from his breath. Detectives then conducted field sobriety tests as part of a DUI investigation.

Inside the vehicle, detectives located an 8-month-old baby in the back seat, a drink that smelled of alcohol in the front cupholder, and two 9mm semi-automatic handguns — a Walther PDP with 18 rounds of ammunition in the center console and a Glock 19 with 52 rounds of ammunition in a drum magazine under the passenger seat.

During a check of Bradbury’s criminal history, detectives determined he was a convicted felon with numerous previous arrests. His past arrests include Reckless Driving, Fleeing and Eluding at High Speed, Resisting Arrest with Violence, Unlicensed Concealed Carry of a Firearm, Possession of Hashish, and Arson of a Structure.

After the investigation, detectives arrested Bradbury for DUI with a Person Under 18 in the Vehicle and two counts each of Possession of a Weapon by a Convicted Felon, Improper Exhibition of a Firearm, and Use of a Firearm Under the Influence of Alcohol. He was transported to the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility, where he was later released on a $25,000 bond.

“This is a guy who does not seem to learn a lesson no matter how many times he is arrested,” said Sheriff Rick Staly. “Thank you to the caller who saw something and said something about this dangerous driver, so we could get him off the road. Lucky for him, he did not point the guns at anyone or get involved in a road rage incident.  You should never drink and drive especially while playing with dual-wielding pistols.”

Traffic Stop Leads to Narcotics Arrests

On Saturday night, while conducting proactive traffic enforcement on Seminole Woods Boulevard in Palm Coast, deputies conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle with an expired license plate and illegal front window tint.

Deputies contacted the driver, Richard Caldwell, 31, of Bunnell, and passenger, Michelle Eastman, 25, of Ormond Beach, who gave them consent to search the vehicle. During the search, deputies found multiple small plastic bags containing methamphetamine and a digital scale under the passenger seat. In the center console, deputies found a CZ 9mm handgun, which Caldwell stated belonged to him.

Narcotics and a CZ handgun were found in the vehicle and seized.

Caldwell and Eastman were transported to the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility, where they are being held on a $5,500 bond and without bond, respectively.

Both have criminal histories in Flagler County with prior felony arrests. Caldwell’s prior arrests include Domestic Battery by Strangulation, Robbery by Sudden Snatching, Unarmed Burglary of an Occupied Dwelling, Unlicensed Concealed Carry of a Firearm, and Violation of Probation. Eastman’s prior arrests include Possession of Fentanyl, an out-of-county warrant for Grand Theft of a Motor Vehicle, and Violation of Probation.

“I commend our deputies for looking beyond the traffic violations and finding the drugs that led to more serious offenses,” Sheriff Staly said. “This poison does not belong on our streets, but these two certainly belong in the Green Roof Inn with their extensive criminal histories.”
