Elementary, middle, and high school recipients recognized for leadership, kindness, and academic achievement.
BUNNELL, Fla. — The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office presented Sheriff Rick Staly’s “Great Kid” Award to three Flagler Schools students on December 10, recognizing their achievements during October 2025. Sheriff Staly and Investigative Services Division Chief Agustin Rodriguez visited each school to present the awards alongside school resource deputies.
The monthly awards program honors one student at the elementary, middle, and high school levels who demonstrates respect for their peers, helps others, works hard academically, and represents themselves and their school well. School resource deputies and school employees nominate the recipients.

“What an outstanding group of students this month,” Sheriff Staly said. “They were chosen as ‘Great Kids’ because of their achievements in and out of school. Their selflessness and attitude do not go unnoticed. We’re excited to be able to honor these students and recognize them for being great kids.”
Tatum Coulter, a fifth grader at Wadsworth Elementary School, received the elementary school-level award. According to those who nominated him, Coulter “consistently leads by example, showing respect, responsibility, and kindness in everything he does. He advocates not only for himself but also for his classmates and makes sure everyone feels supported, appreciated, and included. He is truly an exceptional student and role model for others to follow and is very deserving of this award!” Coulter also serves as a safety patrol officer at his school.

Logan Kepner, a seventh grader at Buddy Taylor Middle School, received the middle school level award for his dedication to maintaining a clean environment for fellow students. His nominators described Kepner as “respectful to teachers and students and is dependable, hardworking, and always determined to succeed. He goes above and beyond and is a well-mannered young gentleman who fits the mold for an all-around great kid.”

Jazmine Padilla, a sophomore at Matanzas High School, received the high school-level award. Padilla maintains a 3.5 grade point average while participating in multiple extracurricular activities. According to those who nominated her, Padilla “is a member of the Color Guard and JROTC Raiders team, demonstrating teamwork, discipline, and perseverance. She also participates in flag football, showcasing her athleticism and determination. Her artistic talents consist of drawing, painting, and playing the electric guitar, reflecting her creativity and passion for self-expression.”
The “Great Kid” Awards are presented each month throughout the school year to students across Flagler County.
