Palm Coast pickleball teams made a strong showing at the inaugural ATPL National Tournament in El Mirage, Arizona, from Nov. 6-9, 2025, bringing home two national championship banners.
The tournament brought together teams from Oregon, California, Arizona, and Florida at Pueblo El Mirage. Palm Coast sent five teams from the Southern Recreation Center, where the championship banners will soon be displayed.

Sorry Not Sorry – Men’s Doubles 4.0, 50+ Division, Captain Ken Schwamb – Gold Medal

Pickle Posse – Mixed Doubles 4.0, 50+ Division, Captain Larry Mackey – Gold Medal
Palm Coast Power – Men’s Doubles 4.0, 14+ Division, Captain Steve Thomas – Silver Medal
Troubled Doubles – Mixed Doubles 3.0, 65+ Division, Captain Robert Edgar – Bronze Medal
Relentless – Women’s Doubles 4.0, 50+ Division, Captains Julie Buffington and Julie Claude – Honorable Mention
Players described the experience as unforgettable, with nerves, excitement, and sportsmanship all on full display.
“You could cut the air with anticipation,” one participant shared.
Tournament Experience
The event kicked off with a Welcome Party on Friday evening, where players enjoyed dinner, drinks, music, and good-natured trash talk at the Pueblo El Mirage Community Center.
Tournament organizers earned high praise for keeping matches running “smoothly and efficiently,” making the first-ever ATPL Nationals a success.
Upcoming Season
With the 2025-2026 season approaching, excitement is already building. Registration for the NE Florida Team Pickleball League opens Nov. 15, and the new season officially begins Jan. 10, 2026.
