On June 10, the Broward County Sheriff’s Office arrested Reynaldo Cruz, 40, of Fort Lauderdale, on two Flagler County fugitive warrants for Burglary of a Conveyance and Felony Petit Theft.

On March 7, deputies responded to an auto burglary at the RaceTrac gas station located on SR 100 East in Palm Coast. The victim reported her purse was stolen from her passenger seat by an unknown person while she was getting gas.

During the investigation, detectives from FCSO’s General Assignment Unit and FCSO’s Real Time Crime Analysts determined that a white BMW with a stolen tag was involved in the crime. Through investigative means, detectives were able to trace the original tag to a rental vehicle connected to Cruz, who was on probation for similar criminal activity. On May 23, FCSO detectives obtained warrants for Cruz’s arrest.

On June 10, deputies from the Broward County Sheriff’s Office arrested Cruz on the warrants for Burglary of Conveyance and Felony Petit Theft. Cruz also faces additional charges in Broward County, where he was taken into custody. He was transported to the Broward County Jail, where he is being held on $80,000 bond.

“This is a textbook example of solid detective work, using every available tool to track down a suspect across the state that thought he could come to Flagler County and victimize our citizens,” said Sheriff Rick Staly. “Thanks to our investigative team and assistance from the Broward County Sheriff’s Office he found out that was a bad idea.”
