Flagler Schools’ Principal of the Year is setting sail for a new horizon. Matanzas High School Principal Kristin Bozeman is stepping down from the top
spot of the Pirate ship. Flagler Schools Superintendent LaShakia Moore made the announcement Thursday morning in a meeting with Matanzas High School faculty and staff. The search for a new Principal is now underway with plans to have the school’s fifth Principal in place before the
beginning of the 2025-26 school year.
Bozeman, previously a Director of Instructional Personnel at St. Johns County, was named Principal of Matanzas High School prior to the 2022-23 school year. After three years as the Captain of “The Ship,” Bozeman and her family are relocating for new chapter in their lives.
“It has been the honor of a lifetime to serve the students, families, faculty and staff of Matanzas High School,” Bozeman stated. “This community has shaped me as a leader and as a person, and I’m deeply grateful for every lesson, challenge and celebration we’ve shared. As I begin this new chapter, I carry with me a heart full of appreciation for the incredible journey we’ve taken together these past three years.” Flagler Schools administration has begun the process of gathering input from stakeholders as they prepare to lay the foundation for the next Principal at Matanzas.
“Principal Bozeman has led Matanzas High School with grace, dedication and an unwavering commitment to student success,” Moore said. “Her impact is evident in the growth of the campus culture and the many lives she’s touched along the way. While we will miss her presence in Flagler Schools, we fully support her next adventure and look forward to building on the strong foundation she helped create at Matanzas.”
