June 19th, 2023, the Flagler County Board of County Commissioners held their regular meeting.  During the announcements, Chair Hansen updated the public that Varn park is still closed as well as informed the public of the next couple of meetings. The meeting started off with the Airport Quarterly update presentation updating the board on the Flagler Executive Airport. Julie Murphy has successfully completed the process that awards the professional designation of “Public Information Officer” (PIO). The Commission on Professional Credentialing® (CPC®) met on December 5, 2022, to confer the designation. Julie Murphy becomes one of only 17 PIOs worldwide. The Designation program is a voluntary program designed to recognize individuals who demonstrate their excellence in seven measured components including experience, education, professional development, professional contributions, association membership, community involvement, and technical competence. Commissioners Leann Pennington, Greg Hansen sworn into office – Hansen elected Chair, Andy Dance elected Vice Chair

November 23, 2022 – Newly elected Commissioner Leann Pennington, District 4, and twice elected Commissioner Greg Hansen, District 2, were sworn into office by County Judge Melissa Distler. "This is a big day for us," Hansen said before taking the Oath of Office. Commissioner Andy Dance nominated Hansen to chair the Board of County Commissioners. He was elected unanimously. Commissioner Donald O'Brien then nominated Dance to serve as vice chair, and he too was elected unanimously.
