November 10, 2022 – Flagler County officials shortly after noon rescinded the evacuation order for the barrier island and started the process of closing the shelter at Rymfire Elementary School as the strongest effects of Hurricane Nicole have subsided. “We nevertheless urge residents to use caution, particularly along the coastline, as the county recovers from the storm,” Emergency Management Director Jonathan Lord said. “There are some road closures on State Road A1A, as well as unsafe areas along our coastline, we urge everyone to remain off the barrier island.” There are road closures in the following locations: State Road A1A at…

November 7, 2022 – Flagler County officials are continuing sandbag operations on the barrier island at a single location – Bay Drive Park – Tuesday as the area braces for Subtropical Storm Nicole, which will arrive later in the week. “Earlier today we asked everyone to make preparations and this will help people to do that,” said Emergency Management Director Jonathan Lord. “We know we are going to suffer impacts from this storm, and we want residents to be as prepared as they can be.” Residents are limited to 10 sandbags per household. Tropical Depression #9 is set to become a tropical storm sometime today or late tonight. It is currently entering the Gulf where the NHC is expecting it to make a turn to Florida. It is still days out, and tracks can make drastic changes. Remember not to panic, and monitor the track and cone as the days go on.
