2nd Annual Hang 8 Dog Surfing Extravaganza Brings Multitude of People and Pets to Beach

Today, Flagler Beach Mayor Suzette Johnson and 7-11 owner, Eric Cooley, hosted the 2nd annual Hang 8 Dog Surfing Extravaganza. The event started off with vendors setting up along the beach while dogs and their human counterparts prepared for the competitions. The rough surf made it tricky for some of the four legged surfers, but many pressed on and competed. Good Times Dog Bar supplied staff for the event to assist in keeping the four legged athletes safe during the competition. Yesterday, Saturday April 29th, 2023, the Palm Coast Chamber of Commerce hosted their small business expo. The expo had been postponed previously due to inclement weather; however yesterday's forecast held up allowing the event to unfold as planned. Vendors, food trucks and small businesses lined the entire pathway of Central Park in Town Center. The event was open to any small business, both chamber members and non members; Chamber members had tags on their tents to identify themselves as members. This last Saturday at Veterans Park in Flagler Beach, the 7th annual Turtle Fest was held. Vendors of all kinds were in attendance, along with belly dancers for entertainment, and you guessed it, turtles! This event is a yearly event in Flagler Beach that is held at Veterans Park, which is right across the street from the beach. Today's 'Egg'stravaganza at Town Center in Palm Coast, was deemed a success as the city and vendors handed out over 20,000 eggs today.  All kinds of vendors were set up along the pathways at Town Center Park in Palm Coast. This morning the first race in a three race series was held at Graham Swamp Preserve. This series of trail races is for kids only, and this is the first time this event has ever been held.  There are plans for two more races, this year at other local parks in Flagler County, but the dates have yet to be announced. Today The Flagler County Sheriff's Office hosted a home-school group at their operations center. Deputies and staff were able to interact with kids of all ages, along with parents as they got a very basic tour of the building and some hands on interactions as well.   November 26th was the official Tree Lighting Ceremony by the City of Palm Coast. Crowds of people gathered to witness the large tree light up with Santa and Vice Mayor Eddie Barnquinho at the switch. Sheriff Staly attended the event and visited with residents as the were gathered around awaiting the official lighting. He was even spotted at the FCSO light display.
