Earlier this month, the Department of Education conducted an investigation on the assemblies that took place at Bunnell Elementary.  During that investigation teachers, and former principal Donelle Evensen were interviewed. The investigation looked into both Mr. Hines, the 5th grade teacher who held and planned the assemblies, and into Donelle Evensen, who was the principal of Bunnell Elementary at the time. Wednesday evening at 11:13pm, Bunnell Elementary Principal Donelle Evensen sent in her letter of resignation. The DOE investigation has concluded and shortly after the conclusion of this investigation, Evensen sent in her letter of resignation. In her letter Evensen talked about her love of Flagler County and all of its students. City Offices will be closed on Wednesday, August 30, 2023. This includes City Parks; no parks will be open on August 30th.  Essential operations will be staffed, but no offices will be open. City Solid Waste service is suspended for Wednesday, August 30th. There will be no residential recycling or commercial solid waste service. The City of Bunnell issued, via email, an educational statement regarding stormwater; including what stormwater is, what illicit discharge is, how residents can help, and how and what kind of illicit discharges residents should report. What is Stormwater? The simple answer is water that originates during precipitation events and snow/ice melts. Stormwater can usually soak into soil, evaporate or runoff and end up in nearby bodies of water or streams. Three out of Five Evicted Nuisance House Offenders, Violate Orders, Get Arrested and Sentenced to Contempt of Court

Three offenders who were recently evicted from their property for life, violated that order and were caught on the property. Cheyenne Donaldson, Cody Driggers, and Haley Scott were all arrested for going back to their former residence. Donaldson and Scott were found guilty of Contempt of Court and will be serving 60 days in jail. Driggers was also found guilty of Contempt of Court and will be serving 90 days in jail.
