Release #: 2026 – 218
On Friday, deputies with the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office arrested Jesse Modzel, 45, of Palm Coast, for using a client’s credit card to pay for hotel stays and charges to his own cleaning business.
The investigation began in December 2025, when a Palm Coast resident reported unauthorized charges on his credit card. He still had the card in his possession and had not made the purchases.
Detectives determined that Modzel, a handyman whose family cleaning business, Breezy Clean, had unsupervised access to the victim’s home, used the victim’s credit card to book stays at a Palm Coast resort and to make payments to his business. Shortly before the payments, the billing description on the business account was changed to disguise them, but detectives traced the money back to Modzel.

On Friday, after detectives obtain a warrant, deputies went to Modzel’s home to serve the arrest warrant, but when Modzel saw law enforcement he fled into the home. Deputies located him in the backyard and arrested him for principal to fraudulent use of a credit card, use of another person’s identification, and petit theft, second conviction. He was transported to the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility, where he was later released on a $2,500 bond.
“This guy thought he deserved a Palm Coast ‘staycation’ on his client’s dime,” said Sheriff Rick Staly. “He changed the account names to try to hide it, but detectives in our General Assignment Unit followed the money trail back to him. Before you hire someone and give them access to your home, always check their references and criminal history as this was not the first time he had been arrested for theft.”
Because Modzel operated a business with access to customers’ homes, there may be additional victims. Anyone who believes they were victimized by Jesse Modzel or Breezy Clean is encouraged to contact the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office at 386-313-4911. In the event of an emergency, call 911.
