What could be more fun than music with Mr. Richard, the Grand Opening of the newly installed Musical Garden, and a Foamtastic Bubble Party? Nothing, right?
That’s what the Flagler County Public Library has in store as the kickoff to the Youth Summer Reading program that will be held at the Palm Coast Branch Library from 1 to 3:15 p.m. on June 7.
- 1 p.m. – Music by Mr. Richard.
- 2 p.m. – Grand Opening of the Musical Garden. The garden was funded in part by a grant received from the Northeast Florida Library Information Network (NEFLIN) and by donations to the Friends of the Library of Flagler County. There will be a ribbon-cutting with representatives from each organization.
- 2:15 p.m. – The Foamtastic Bubble Party begins.
“The Youth Services team was inspired to transform an unused area of the Palm Coast Library grounds into a fun and interactive musical experience for the community,” said Assistant County Administrator Holly Albanese. “We are very excited to showcase this new feature to the community.”
The Summer Performance series for children starts with the kickoff on Saturday, June 7th, and continues every Tuesday through July. Performers range from storytellers, singers, magicians, and even an interactive animal program.
Children – infants to age 12 – can participate in the Summer Reading Program by picking up a reading log each week and marking each day they complete at least 20 minutes of reading. When a log is completed, return it to the Youth Services Department to enter the raffle for prizes and receive a brag tag.
The Summer Reading Logs are available on June 7, and all reading logs must be turned in by August 1.
Teens aged 13-18 can participate in the Summer Reading Scratch-Offs program. Every time a teen checks out a book or attends a Summer Teen Program they can receive a Scratch-Off. Each Scratch-Off is one entry for prizes that will be announced at the end of the summer.
More information on the Summer Reading Programs for Children and Teens is available at www.flaglerlibrary.org or by calling the library at 386-446-6763, ext. 3714.
