Storm assessment and repairs have begun in the days following Hurricane Milton’s landfall and path across the state. Following the storm, it was reported that roughly 51,000 Flagler residents were without power. Today, FPL and lineman crews have brought that number down to roughly 16,000, and those remaining customers are being turned on as repairs are made.

As crews were out assessing the areas in Flagler County, numerous downed trees were reported, with crews from many different agencies out clearing them from roadways. Sixteen homes were reported to have major damages as of now. Multiple roads are closed due to flooding, damage to the road, etc. For the full list of road closures, you can visit the emergency management’s website here. Road closures will depend on flooding and accessibility before crews can get to roads to initialize repairs.

As of today, the Flagler County Sheriff’s Department has shared that there will no longer be an evening curfew, regular evening activities can resume. Regarding FEMA funds, this process can take a week or two before FEMA can come in and assess damages. This process cannot move forward until the request by the Governor for FEMA assistance is answered by the president. There are other avenues that residents can take to obtain help with repairs and cleanup. Volunteer groups like www.pricescleanup.org can help match up residents and community members with volunteer groups to assist.

Jonathon Lord is telling residents that if they have questions about help or services needed, they should reach out. While the Flagler County Emergency Operations Center may not be able to help directly, they may know of resources that can help with assessments, repairs, cleanup, and other services.
