Tuesday, August 20th was the official voting day for the 2024 primary election. This election was more than just a primary election, multiple local races were decided during this primary election. Below you will be able to see which local races were decided during the primary and which local candidates will be moving on to a run-off election this November 5th.
Three County Commissioner seats are up for election this year. The race for County Commissioner District 1 was decided during the primary election, with Andy Dance taking over 70% of the vote. He will retain his seat for another four years. County Commissioner District 3 will continue to a run-off election in November between Kim Carney and Nicholas Klufas, as neither took over 50% of the vote. County Commissioner District 5 will be recounted as the difference between Pam Richardson (leader) and Ed Danko is less than 0.50%. Official results will be posted once recounts and other verifications can be made.
The race for School Board positions was also decided in the primary election. The race between Derek Barrs and Janie Ruddy was close, with Ruddy leading by almost a full percent. Lauren Ramirez also secured her spot on the School Board with a 21% lead over Vincent Sullivan.
The City of Palm Coast has three seats up for election on the City Council. All of the races will move onto the November ballot, with the top two contenders for each seat holding a run-off election. In the Palm Coast Mayoral race, incumbent Mayor Alfin, Candidate Peter Johnson, and Candidate Alan Lowe, all fell short of securing a spot on the November ballot. The mayoral race will continue between Mike Norris and Cornelia Manfred this November.
Palm Coast City Council Member District One will also make the November ballot in a run-off election between Ty Miller and Jeffery Seib, both beating out Shara Brodsky and Kathy Austrino. Palm Coast City Council District 3 will also face off in November; Andrew Werner secured the highest percentage of votes, securing himself a place on the November ballot, but a recount will be done between Dana Mark Stancil and Ray Stevens, due to the 0.02% percent difference in votes. Official results will be posted and updated as they are published by the Flagler County Supervisor of Elections Office.
